However, most of the mods I installed for PC games were always bug fixes that fellow gamers released online just so that they could help make certain games playable despite having been long abandoned by their own developers. I’m no stranger to modding PC games: I was forced to become a modder by this uncaring world at the tender age of 12 simply because I wanted to play Fallout New Vegas on PC without it crashing every five minutes. Although the game was much harder to play, I was laughing hysterically and having a blast playing. I picked the SANIC class and, indeed, my character could not walk instead, they only moved at an incredibly fast speed as a bass boosted version of the Sonic the Hedgehog theme played in the distance. This feature allows you to…go really, really fast.
However, with the “Crimes Against Nature” mod, the player has an even larger, more absurd list of races to choose: these races range from the majestic Dovahbear (literally just a bear) to Ikea-Born (talking furniture) to even SANIC (a race based off the meme based off the popular 1990’s video game mascot Sonic the Hedgehog.) Nearly all of these new races are merely cosmetic (meaning they don’t impact how the game is played) with the only exception being the SANIC race which has a unique racial ability known as “GO FAST”. Races normally vary between staple fantasy races such as humans, elves, orcs and lizard people. Within the game of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the player is able to customize their character and choose what race they want to play as. After playing the “Crime Against Nature” mod, I started to realize the world of fun I had been missing out on for all these years. Before I had even begun downloading Skyrim and installing the Crime Against Nature mod, I realized t hat I was entering a bizarre, nonsensical world full of absurdist humor and memes.
